Andy and Angela
When I first met these two he was rocking a blue adidas track suit on a team of 7 and she was in an orange jump suit. It was Halloween and he was part of a dodge ball team (yes they roll with real dodge balls) and she was Alex from Orange is the new black. I'm not sure that it's even necessary to mention that these two have fun, a lot of fun. They reside in Telluride and lifestyle to them means being active. They're the ones not just talking about, they're out there living it.
She needed a design that could hold up to their lifestyle so we went with Platinum for durability and long term white color. Sapphires as she loves blue and we liked the way they played off the color of the raw diamond.. Have a moment? I'd love to side track momentarily and wax poetic about this diamond. It had resided in my collection for a long time and it seemed to just be waiting for the perfect project. It's a striking piece and I was (and still am) smitten with everything about it. It's shape in the way the facets are cut, large enough to be dramatic but not garish. The perfect subtle color of it which sometimes almost whispers the color of a cloud. Even occasional metallic accents, this piece shifts color and that is endlessly fascinating. This is a stone that has some serious power. When we started this process we were looking at a variety of stones and then one day it hit me, this is the one. This is the person this stone is meant to belong to.
They're headed to The Grand Canyon soon and the original thought was that he would propose there, but as you'll hear in his words, this is how it all ended up going down.
"Anyway, so last Thursday night Angela and I went out to dinner for a friend's birthday and when we got home we were hanging out in the kitchen, having a nightcap and in a super special deep conversation. The kind that seem to last forever and you don't want them to stop. All of the sudden, it hit me like a flashing marquee, "this is the moment that I had in mind when I said that I might just let the moment present itself!!!" And so my heart began to pound through my chest!!!
I decided to step outside for some "fresh air" by taking Winston (our dog) outside. I stood there thinking..."Is this going to be OK to do it now? Of course it is. But it isn't the Grand Canyon. So what this moment is so special and it feels right. Plus, I cannot hold on to this ring anymore without losing my insanity."
So I take Winston back inside and I changed his bandanna and tied the ring onto it. Angela had just gone upstairs to lay down for bed and Winston had shot up there after I had tied the ring onto his bandanna. I hear her say," hey, you have a new bandanna on". I creep up the stairs with a bottle of champagne and two glasses in hand and set them just outside the bedroom door. My heart is half way in my throat and half way in my mouth. And so I simply say, "why don't you look a little closer..." And then she finally NOTICES IT! And she gets this look of astonishment like it cant be true... "Will you marry me?" I ask. "You want to marry me?" She replies. "Yes" I say. "YES, YES, YES!" She replies. We pop the bottle of champagne and toast to our long and amazing future together....
So congratulations Andy and Angela! It was an honor to be a part of this beautiful moment in your history. Here's to a long and wonderful life together, full of lots of love and adventure!
