Mardeleva
Jewelers bronze. Leather.
While my hands still hurt from this project, my heart is full. I made ~60 of these for our event and here is their story.
A Mardeleva is the coming together of three currents in the ocean which creates a swell. The rise in energy in that coming together is more powerful than each piece on its own. Hence this name for these wonderful three musicians. The shape was inspired by the way you might hold something between your fingers as you daydream about a place. The front a hand engraving of a Mardeleva. The back, the logo for @weareblackrose and the visionary behind this event. Inside this piece there is a cavern filled with sand from the beaches of Tulum, the birthplace of this trio. Plugged with hand cut cork so as to stay in alignment with being a zero plastic event.
